While growing up in a large family, Kourtney’s calling came at a young age. She loved helping children and knew being a teacher would not only be rewarding but also a place to express her creativity to connect with others. After graduating High School, she went to college in Boston where she studied Elementary Education. After completing her BA, she continued on to get her Masters in Reading and Language Arts. Being young and with a passion for travel, Kourtney taught first and second grade in five different states from Connecticut, North Carolina to Colorado.
While back on the East Coast, Kourtney settled down, started a family, and took time off from teaching. During this time Kourtney began her journey in the non-profit world as President of the PTO. This was a great opportunity to build experience in leading fundraising campaigns, event planning, marketing, and social media. Kourtney currently sits as active President on two non-profit Boards, one being a charitable foundation she started with her children, who all play lacrosse, called Lax with Love.
In 2014 Kourtney relocated to Chicago and after settling in, she found the perfect location to continue to develop her passion for reading and literacy in a public library setting where she worked in the Program and Publicity Department at the 5-Star Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich, IL.
Kourtney lives in the northwest Chicago suburbs with her husband, three children, and Australian Labradoodle. She is thrilled to be working with Back 2 School America as their Event Coordinator as it brings her full circle, in a place where she can help to create new and engaging opportunities for children.
